Conversations and Laziness
Setting: Dining Room, the table of which is a scene of massive gift wrapping carnage. Seriously, it looks like the Christmas Spirit* exploded in here.
(*I totally just typed "Christmas Sprite", which I suppose would work, too.)
Time: About an hour ago.
Me: *paused mid-walk as I try to recall what it is I need to do*
Dad: "What are you doing?"
Me: "Thinking."
Dad: "I thought I smelled smoke."
Me: "Har har."

Setting: Same dining room, with same carnage.
Time: About 10 minutes ago.
Me: *sitting on barstool, fingers tapping against edge of laptop as I ponder what to write*
Mom: "What are you doing?"
Me: "Thinking."
Mom: "I don't see any smoke."

My parents, ladies and gentlemen. They're freaking comedians.

I had intended to write a long, reflective entry, on this night that is full of so much magic and hope and meaning, but I'll have to put it off for a day or two. I'm running on fumes, having wrapped approximately four toy stores' worth of gifts for Kidlet. It's not like I actually intended to buy so much for her, honestly. With my current living situation, the only place we can really hide gifts is out in the garage. This is fine. My problem comes when I start buying Christmas presents in November, I stash them out in the garage, and then the memory of said purchase falls through one of the many, many holes in my brain. Then, the next time I'm out shopping, I see something and think, "This would be a great gift for Kidlet!" I buy it, stash it out in the garage... repeat 4987904 times.
Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a tad. The point is, I'm way frickin' tired, and when I tried to get in a mindset to write meaningful paragraphs, instead of this kind of random blather, my brain gave a huge, put-upon sigh and said, "O Rly?" Because, it is so tired it's using nerdy internet shorthand now. So I gave it up for a lost cause, lest I start talking about the magic of Christmas, lol, w00t!
Sleep now. Because! Santa's coming! Yay! Merry Christmas to all!
